Cone Nine Ceramic Design was formed by Roderick Bamford and Janine Brody in 1994 to develop distinctive ceramic design ideas and to provide a working laboratory for their realization. The name Cone 9 is taken from pyrometric 'cone' no.9, one of the key indicators of temperature and ceramic quality in kiln firing, and was chosen to reflect the partners breadth of design experience in the ceramic field. The studios reputation has been built on a 20 years of experience designing innovative collectible tableware and art objects. Its establishment enabled a broadening of the studios focus to include design of mass produced commercial tableware and ceramic tiles . Examples of our work are included in major ceramic & design collections in Australia and abroad. Cone Nine Design was recently honored with an Interior Designex award for product design. The studios undertake product design, modeling and prototype development which is enhanced by a flexible, small run production facility. The combination enables our clients to cost effectively bring new product ideas to market.
